For Pride 2025, we are putting together a social narrative to help make Yeovil Does Pride as accessible as possible. Social narratives are stories told from a first-person perspective. They use clear language and pictures to explain new, unexpected, or potentially challenging situations.
While everyone can benefit from understanding situations ahead of time, social narratives are especially helpful for neurodivergent individuals, including Autistic people and those with anxiety. The purpose of a social narrative is to empower and support inclusion and access, not to enforce social norms.
It won’t be available for a while yet, as we need to work on and agree our plans for 2025 before we can then put that into this kind of accessible format. However, it will be available at least a month before pride to ensure it’s able to be put to good use.
