Call for Artists

Call for Artists: “Red Alert”

This World AIDS Day we’re introducing Red Alert, a new strand of Yeovil Diversity Project’s LGBT+ activism that raises awareness, challenges stigma, and honours lives affected by HIV.

We’re inviting visual artists to create red-themed pieces that will stand out on the typical social media scroll, capture the interest of our audience and spark reflection. We’ll use photographs of chosen works alongside our written content on World AIDS Day (December 1st), amplifying your art as part of a collective call to attention.

What we’re looking for:

  • Paintings, collages, sculptures
  • Textile pieces, garments
  • Styled outfit “looks”
  • Red makeup artistry, body paint
  • Any visual work where red is the main focus

This does not need to be a new or specifically created piece of art but we do ask you to respect the reasoning behind this campaign, with thought to the sensitive nature of the overall subject. Your interpretation can be abstract, literal, symbolic, stark… Anything that calls out to you. This is a soft launch of our wider “Red Alert” campaign, which will be introduced to our partners and audience in 2026.

Work will be used across our social media, namely Facebook and Instagram, as well as on our website. Please consider this when deciding the resolution and dimensions of your photos.

Deadline for submissions: 23:59 November 14th 2025

To take part:
Send a photo of your artwork (or a few!) to redalert@yeovildiversityproject.co.uk, along with your name, pronouns and the title of the piece(s). If you haven’t previously done so, you’ll also need to complete our Declaration of Commitment to Trans Inclusion & Respect. If we do not receive your declaration before the deadline, we will not use your work. The password to open the form is “transrights”.

We will contact artists whose art we would like to use by 19th November, and ask for a headshot, website/social links and short bio to include on our website.

By submitting art you are confirming that:

  • The art is yours and that you hold full rights to it
  • You are giving your permission for it to be used by YDP this year (2025) in the way outlined above
  • You have completed the Declaration of Commitment to Trans Inclusion & Respect
